a little strange. why not align with already established groups? this is why the conservatives are so dangerous. this is why the media is so dangerous. who is this guy? is he like jim harris or is he old school? looks pretty non-con to me. does toronto have some urge to feel like america? is poland willing to take other steps to combat anti-semitism, or is the concern strictly anti-polish misnomers? i wish i could be that cheap! even the cato institute decries the digital millenium copyright act google's business model is diametrically opposed to its motto: don't do evil. except when the government forces you. how bad is peer-to-peer file-sharing technology? an interesting interview on muni-wifi. but check this out. is muni-wifi a safe bet? down with clear channel!

israeli elections. disengagement: including the jordan valley? the roads? from policies of assasination? why does mofaz blame hamas in the media when the attack has been claimed by two-fatah groups? why mystify the violence? and how will the palestinian authority resolve this conflict? immigration reform anyone? and racism in america.

From this article: "The big finding of a 2005 survey of Americans ages 8 to 18 by the Kaiser Family Foundation is not that kids were spending a larger chunk of time using electronic media -- that was holding steady at 6.5 hours a day (could it possibly get any bigger?) -- but that they were packing more media exposure into that time: 8.5 hours' worth, thanks to "media multitasking" -- listening to iTunes, watching a DVD and IMing friends all at the same time." time is so smart.

the harper government is no better for democracy than any of his predecessors. but alas, democracy wasn't one of the top five priorities...

what? the prime minister can't get a meeting with the president of pakistan? he's all the way there, for god's sake!

Rae's pitch: Let's unite the left: Does he really think the Liberal Party of Canada is the vehicle around which Canadian progressives should rally around? how can a party that so thoroughly abandoned any progressive roots it may have had claim to through the election and promotion of MPs like Dan McTeague (also considering a leadership run) and alienates folks like Sheila Copps. What happened to Bob Rae and the LPoC in the past ten years that would indicate they are now ready for one another? What makes the former think that progressive Canadians can find the LPoC palatable after their record has been anything but? He argues that progressives are not a majority of the House of Commons: the Bloc and the NDP can both be solidly called progressive. The Conservatives (canadian alliance) never were mistaken as such. Only the Liberal Party is confused. Only the Liberal Party is trying to convince Canadians that it can be, it is, the new standard bearer of the Canadian Left. But the Emperor Has No Clothes: Liberals are no friends of the Left. Liberals are solidly spineless and malleable to the will of pollsters and media outlests: this is their Legacy, and no leftist union can resolve the paradox of the Big Tent party.

lots of things to report as a busy week draws to a close. i've been identifying sweet shows in the area for me to go to. or that friends may be interested in going to. Art Brut will be playing at the Black Cat in the district on April 9th. I wasn't able to get tickets to a number of sweet shows coming to the 9:30 club, but Metric still has tix. The Birchmere will be showcasing a ton of different folks I like, including Billy Bragg, Kathleen Edwards, Erin Mckeown, Dr. Ralph Stanley, The Cowboy Junkies, Joel Plaskett, and others. Heading to new york city this week for some meetings and some chillin. the usual combo promises to be good times. then it'll be back to the district for a little while before doing passover in ottawa. this week was brought to you by one. pretty neat. rivals tenxten a little. two. of course it will. three. of course he is. four. a french version. five. this guy is a tool. of course he thinks this way; i.e. that criminals were outlaws before the law made them so. criminals, like other business people, can and ought to be regulated. prohibitions have never been tremendously effective. six. am i the only person who thinks that the seal hunt is ok? clearly, some in the gov't agree with me; but the rest of the world really gets haughty about it. they're not even endangered!! in fact, many reports describe a booming population that are keeping cod stocks from recovering. seven. look out for a higher dollar. eight. i miss these. nine. ten. eleven. twelve. thirteen. listen to this! fourteen. quinze. seize. seventeen. if you don't click anything else, click this. enjoy the weekend!
