i don't think i can even describe how annoyed i am with the weather so far this spring. in fact, i feel as though I should be saying winter. it is may 22, and I expect some sunshine and warmth. i think all the plants in my yard and neighbourhood are all going to die. maybe it is warmer elsewhere, but i have yet to be there on a full time basis. i sometimes think the bad weather follows me, which would be the most horrendous curse ever, since I truly think the climate plays a rather large role in my moods. in other news, i am getting close to my move out of sackville. a little sad, but if the weather keeps it up, it'll be more like a light at the end of a tunnel.

just a few quick words about ambition in ottawa. we have a few interesting tid bits in the news. obviously quite curious that belinda stronach just ditched the conservatives to join the grits. stephen harper, leader of the tories, has accused her of being ambitious (see julius caesar, brutus, marc antony). let's be honest. it is obvious that ambition in ottawa is like a cancer. we have a prime minister whose ambitions led to the abrupt and unfriendly resignation of his predecessor, to whom he owes his entire public image as finance minister, because he wasn't able to keep his ambition in his pants. there is no doubt this man will do anything to stay in power. stephen harper, in february was quite clear in his response to the budget, ie. that the tories would not bring down the gov't at this time. then the policy convention happens, and little people from all over the country tell harper he ought to be PM. well, conveniently he has a two year old scandal whose details are being made more and more confounded and so forth every day by testimony from everyone who has an agenda. why not try and go for the hot seat right now. it is no surprise after how harper has abandoned his principles as leader of the national citizens coalition (right wing lobby group) to lead this new moderate conservative party. and then there's belinda stronach, whose father is the most highly paid man in the country, and who is the former CEO (at her age!) of Magna Int'l - a rather massive corporation. she left this job to challenge Harper for his job, and lost. she's been a good sport for a year, and now she's a minister of the crown. ambition serves itself, and these three deserve each other. i wouldn't be surprised to see any more floor crossing. the sad part is we don't deserve them.

new paper! i've just posted a long (50 pages) paper I wrote comparing the liberalism of John Locke and Jean-Jacques Rousseau in regards to freedom and religion. Hope you enjoy it. to find papers on my site, click "home" and it should be obvious from there. also serious apologies for the mega hiatus from the posting. between finals, graduating, and trotting around canada for job interviews etc., I've been quite busy. more to come! be patient and forgive.
